This is an especially hard question for me. All of my life I've been a dreamer. As a kid, I remember every Christmas and every birthday dreaming of what I might find under the tree or on the picnic table that year. And because of my imagination, I would usually hope, dream or pray for something that didn't exist. Something unique. Something mythical. One year I remember dreaming of an expansive Kenner-style Doctor Who toy line (years before I knew that Dapol made a 3.75-inch line in England). One year I remember dreaming of a Kenner-style, or maybe Hasbro GI Joe-style, Aliens toy line, complete with a Millennium Falcon-sized Sulaco Dropship. But what would I wish for today, if I could wish any one toy line into existence? I could spend all night thinking about that question. My first thought though is that, being a 100% 3.75-inch/1:18 scale collector, I have always wished that the near-comprehensive Playmates Star Trek 4.5-inch toy line of the 90s had been 3.75-inch instead of 4.5. I would love to have an expansive Star Trek line, probably made by Hasbro, that rivals my Star Wars collection. Something that is The Vintage Collection quality with a full range of every TV series and movie. I realize Hiya is currently making super-articulated Star Trek figures, but they're starting with the Kelvin universe (not my favorite), the paint applications and construction so far are a little sus, and the figures in the first wave are being released months apart. I also realize there have been various attempts to bring Star Trek to the 3.75-inch realm by Mego, Galoob (some of my all-time most precious collectibles), ERTL, Super7 and others, but nothing with the consistency or range of the Star Wars line... including figures, vehicles, playsets and everything else a premier toy line like Star Wars would have. If I could wish something into existence it would be that. But my second wish would be for a comprehensive 1:18 TVC-quality Classic Doctor Who line. Then a full 1:18 Pumpkinhead line. Definitely Pumpkinhead.
If you could wish any one toy line into existence, what would it be?
