Another year is upon us. It's been a busy holiday season, both personally and professionally, and I'm just now taking a breath to re-evaluate my own collection going into the new year. The toy collecting industry has changed so much in the past 15 years. 15 years ago I could lock onto one collection to update, expand, finalize, etc. and could focus on that project for months at a time. Now, with so many smaller waves hitting randomly from preorders and miscellaneous drops and finds, and so many diverse lines popping up from large, medium, and small toy companies alike, I'm finding myself switching focus, and switching projects, almost every week. As long as I'm working on existing collections that's mostly okay, but every time I'm tempted to expand into a new toy line or theme it requires space which means expanding shelves or rotating the items I'm displaying. Rotating is fine, but the outgoing collections then need storage space! It's a vicious cycle, and one that I love, but I think one of my bucket list goals is to one day set up a museum that I can move all of this to!
New year, new collecting habits?
