Why do we celebrate?

Posted by Mike Robinson on Apr 26th 2026

Most of our annual sales revolve around special days across various fandoms, such as First Contact Day (Star Trek), Alien Day (LV "4/26"), May the Fourth (Star Wars), and so on and so forth. Of course we celebrate a few of the general major holidays as well (Black Friday and Cyber Monday for example), but why focus on the fandoms? Holidays and traditions serve as vital emotional anchors for us, providing a sense of belonging and continuity that connects us to our cultural roots. By stepping away from the demands of daily life, these observances offer essential opportunities for reflection, recreation, and the strengthening of emotional bonds. They act as "rhythm makers" for the year, reinforcing shared values and transforming ordinary moments into meaningful milestones, fostering a shared identity that enriches our psychological well-being. It is important to celebrate our fandoms, and our heroes, that help make us who we are. From Star Trek, to Alien, to Star Wars, and beyond, we hope that you enjoy shopping with us on each of these special occasions and allowing us to be part of your annual traditions.
